My father is a retired painter and decorator who has been in the business for over 40 years, he has always decorated my houses and when we moved to Suffolk from Leeds, I was unsure what to do when my house needed painting. The first was a large 4 story victorian property with a 2 bedroom cottage in the grounds and the second a barn conversion. The victorian property required advice on period colour schemes,both inside and out, stripped and stained floor boards and real attention to detail on the ceilings and staircase he even had access to a colour changing paint that was activated by heat! The barn conversion was much more straight forward requiring quick and efficient painting of the colours chosen by myself and my partner. Having suffered from several unsatisfactory painters and decorators because of unreliability, cost or poor quality workmanship we were recommended to use Daniel Farthing. His response to my request for a quotation was immediate. His quotation was appropriate and acceptable and he was able to start work on the inside of our house very quickly.
He completed the repainting of the inside of our house to budget in terms of cost and time including making good some of the previous poor work. His own standards are high and the quality of his workmanship is excellent.
He subsequently painted the whole of the outside of our house, a substantial piece of work. Again he completed the work to the estimated cost although I suspect more work was entailed than he first assessed. The work was inevitably delayed by poor weather but he nevertheless used his best efforts to complete the work as near as possible to the time schedule which we had agreed.
He is thoroughly reliable and an extremely pleasant and careful person to have working inside and outside one’s house. I thoroughly recommend him and his work.
